In addition, the trip was to include a visit to Rasnov Fortress, but when we arrived we were told is was closed and had been for sometime. However, we were not expecting to find the bears being lured into the area with food in front of the hide upon arrival - (seemed that they were encouraged in purely for visitors to observe). And secondly there was no communication with the ranger who spent the hour we were there in his car! The bear sanctuary is wonderful if a little sad due to the ill treatment many of the bears now in care received in the past. The owners have done a great job in giving the 116 bears in their care a safe haven. Luckily bears are now protected in Romania.”
